MARY KATE COOPER BENNETT, 83, of Valdosta passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on April 19, 1925 in Brooks County to the late Ray and Ollie Brantley Cooper and had lived in Valdosta most of her life. Mrs. Bennett attended school in Barwick and graduated from Morven High School and worked at Crackin Good Bakery for many years.
Survivors include two daughters and a son in law, Belinda Curran of Sebastain, Fla., Patty and Don Forshee of Bessemer, Ala., son and daughter in law, Randy and Cynthia Bennett of Valdosta, grandsons, Justin Bennett, Jeremy Bennett both of Valdosta, Donnie Forshee of Bessemer, Ala., granddaughters, Keira and her husband, D.J. Eidem of Sebastian, Fla., Genia and her husband, James Leonard of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and Donna Nation; great grandchildren, Justin Eidem, Kayla Eidem, and Chylo Eidem, Samantha Leonard and Ashley Forshee. A sister, Nellie R. Cooper Selph of Valdosta and three nephews and their spouses, Don and Twyla Selph, Phillip and Sylvia Selph and David Selph all of Valdosta, She was preceded in death by her husband, R. B. Bennett and a son, Charles Richard Evans, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Saturday, May 10, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Brooks County. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
