Mary Johnson

Mary Alice Goodson Fountain Johnson, 75, of Lake Park, died on Sunday, November 5, 2006, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Valdosta, on December 29, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Sam Dean and Ethel Jacobs Goodson. Mrs. Johnson attended Valdosta High School and Business School in Macon, Georgia. During her business career she worked at the Police Department in Macon, Vocational Rehabilitation in Valdosta, Avondale Shipyard in New Orleans, Louisiana, Oschner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, Valdosta State College, Parkwood Developmental Center, Crestwood Nursing Home, and South Georgia Medical Center. She was a member of Century First Baptist Church, Century, Florida.

Survivors are her sons and daughters in law, Rodney and Miranka Fountain of Lakeland, Florida, Jimmy Fountain of Pensacola, Florida, brothers and sisters in law, Richard and Peggy Goodson of Athens, Jerry and Julianna Goodson of Marietta, sisters, Mattie Szymanski of Valdosta, Margaret Turner of Valdosta, Marion Jo and Vernon Stephenson of Lake Park, Linda and Richard Wicker of Newnan; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam D. “Buddy” Goodson, Jr., and Gene Carlton Goodson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at 3 p.m. at the graveside at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Reverend David Paulk, Pastor of Benevolence Baptist Church will officiate.
