Mary Jo Mann Phillips, 75, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Quitman, Georgia on June 7, 1946, to the late John Emmitt and Eugenia Gertrude Stewart Mann, and has been a lifelong resident of this area. She retired from Sunset Farms as a meat packer. She was known by her family as an immaculate housekeeper who loved to cook for her family. She loved her family with all her heart but loved all she came in contact with. Mrs. Mary Jo was a member of New Seasons Church.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Antonio E. Phillips of Adel, and John Dustin and Bonnie Ann Phillips of Valdosta; her daughter-in-law, Laurie Ann Phillips of Adel; her grandchildren and their spouses, Michelle Phillips and Robert Jewell, Michael and Kristina Phillips, Haley and Justin Simpson, Faith Phillips, Zane and Karrah Phillips, Addison Underwood, and Joni Phillips; 16 great-grandchildren; her sister, Martha Sue Cox of Lake Park; two beloved nieces, Linda Sue Lindsay of Lee, Florida, and Mary Lee Villalva of Lake Park; a sister-in-law, Jackie Glass, and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Mathel Pete Phillips; her daughter, Melissa Jean Phillips, and her son, Mathel Darrell Phillips.
Services for Mary Jo Mann Phillips will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 30, 2021, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Burns officiating. The burial will follow in the Fender Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
