Mary Frances Moore Coody, 77, of Quitman died Thursday, December 18, 2008 at her home. She was born in Lowndes County on March 15, 1931 and had lived in Summerville, South Carolina from 1961-1982 before returning to this area. Mrs. Coody was a member of the Redland Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandy Burris of Quitman, sister and brother in law, Joyce NeSmith Gregory and Stephen Gregory of Ft. Myers, Fla., grandchildren and their spouses, Patricia and Clint Holmes of Richmond, VA., Bob and Tonya Burris of Summerville, SC., Tom and Stacy Burris of Richmond, VA., Donna and David Sutherland of Bremerton, WA., Angele and John Pietrangelo and Cindy Gregory both of Ft. Myers, Fla., three great grandchildren, Lauren Burris, Katie Burris and Taylor Burris, brothers in law and sisters in law, L.T. and Gladys Coody, Maxine Cothron all of Valdosta, Vernita and Clair Fletcher of Lake Park, Lavinia Hammock of Clyattville and Mary Foster of Valdosta and a special devoted friend and caregiver, Bobbie Newsom of Quitman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Howard Coody, son in law, Albert Burris, her father, Russell L. Moore and her mother and stepfather, Thelma McKinney NeSmith and Julian NeSmith.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, December 21, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Redland Cemetery.
