Mary Frances Johnson Woodward, 98, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Langdale Hospice House. A Valdosta native, she was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, John C. Woodward, Jr., her parents, Marie and Jared B. Johnson, and her sister, Margaret “Bobbie” Clayton.
Mrs. Woodward loved reading better than almost anything, and she inspired her family to learn through reading. Another love was her painting. She has left a wonderful legacy of that talent with her family. Perhaps, though, her greatest love was for her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She loved them all with a passion worthy of a Mimi.
Survivors are her son, Barclay Woodward, Sr., of Valdosta, her daughter and son-in-law, Fran and Bobby Johnson of Savannah, son and daughter-in-law, Bo and Pam Woodward of Valdosta; grandchildren, Barclay (Courtney) Woodward, Bo (Jenny) Johnson, Brooke (Ryan) Gaynor, Susan (Brett) Boone, Shelly (Patrick) Golden, Chase Woodward, and Troy Woodward; six great grandchildren, and many special and caring nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Langdale Hospice House at 2263 Pineview Drive, Valdosta, GA, 31602, or a charity of your choice. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane.
