Mary F. Hughes, 84 of Lake Park died Saturday, October 30, 2010 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born on July 17, 1926, in Echols County, to the late Nealy Herbert and Clyde Carter Hiers. Mrs. Hughes was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She attended Lake Park Christian Church and was retired as an instructor with LARC Valdosta
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Eddie M. Hughes; three daughters and sons-in-law, Diane (Darrel) Coglon, of Lake Park; Debbie (David) Price, of Tifton: Carol (Norman) Strickland, of Lake Park: son and daughter-in-law, Chris (Gail) Hughes, of Lake Park; grandchildren, Thomas (Dee Dee) Smith, of Lake Park; Missy (Joe) Morey, of Lake Park; Amy (Todd) Barrett, of Valdosta; Angie (Robbie) Leggett, of Baxley; David Neil (Krystal) Price, of Baxley; Allen (Roni) Strickland, of Valdosta; Dusty (Kerri) Strickland, Mayday; Christopher (Amanda) Hughes, of Lake Park; and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Annette Copeland, of Dasher; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Hiers, of Lake Park; Becky Neece, of Valdosta; Sadie Hughes, of Jacksonville, Fla; Gwynette Sandlin, of Lake Park; and a host of nieces and nephews and loving friends. She was predeceased by two brothers, Farris Hires and Willie Alvin Hiers both of Lake Park.
