Mary Evelyn Pettijohn

Mary Evelyn Pettijohn, 86, of Valdosta, died on Monday, November 17, 2008 at Holly Hill Nursing Home. Born on October 31, 1922 in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Russ Martin. Mrs. Pettijohn was retired from J.C. Penney as a saleswoman and was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jesse Harold Pettijohn of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Harold Wayne and Jackie Pettijohn of Homer, IL; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Denny Blair of Thomasville; grandchildren and their spouses, Brian and DeAnn Blair of Moultrie, Roslie and Chris Parrish of Thomasville, great granddaughters, Mackenzie and Jessie Ann Blair of Moultrie, Courtney and Kimberly Parrish of Thomasville. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Ray Bannister of Coolidge; brother and sister-in-law, Hugh Anthony and Mary Martin of Tallahassee, FL; nephews, Cle Bannister, Larmar Seay, Gordon Woods; nieces, Teresa Hall, Catherine Chastain, Miranda Mullin; special friends, Shirley and Jerry Vance. Mrs. Pettijohn was preceded in death by her sister, Catherine Seay and her aunt, Roslie Gore and great nephew, Harley Hall.

Services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, November 19, 2008 in the Riverview Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Bob Willis officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Carson McLane Funeral Home.
