Mary Ellen Hinely Hiers

Mary Ellen Hinely Hiers, 86, of Valdosta died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the Fellowship Home. She was born on December 25, 1928 in Springfield, Georgia to the late Hugh R. and Mertie Zittrouer Hinely and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mrs. Hiers was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking and fishing.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Phyllis and Freddy Killgore, Janet and Bo Blalock, David and Julie Hiers all of Valdosta; her grandchildren and their spouses, Will and Maggie Killgore of Atlanta, Leigh Ellen and Lee Marshall of Jupiter, FL, Mary Carol and Jason Perry of Gulf Breeze, FL, Buck and Susie Blalock of Valdosta, Brian and Lori Hiers of Atlanta; great grandchildren, William Killgore, Forrest Killgore, Bo Perry, Dillon Perry, Anna Kate Marshall, Ansley Hiers; her sister, Edell Raburn of Athens, GA; two sisters in law, Evelyn Henry of Valdosta and Helen Matthews of Jacksonville, FL. The family will wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Pruitt Hospice for the care of Mrs. Hiers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Edgar Hiers, three brothers, Willie Hugh Hinely, Lewis Hinely and Jordan Hinely and one sister, Miriam McLendon.
Graveside services will be held at 11am, Friday, October 16, 2015 at the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Rev. Willie Beasley officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
