Mary Elizabeth Rentz Bonner

Mary Elizabeth Rentz Bonner, 90, of Valdosta, Georgia, departed this life to begin a new life with her Heavenly Father on November 17, 2011. Mary was born December 4, 1920 in Howell, Echols County, Georgia and the daughter of the late Lev and Effie Etta Marshall Rentz and was the last of eight siblings (John Rentz, Charles Rentz, Jurard Rentz, Florence Rentz Hughes, Mable Rentz Flythe, Nadi Rentz Humphries, Lorene Rentz Cameron). She married the late Eugene (Gene) Peyton Bonner soon after War World II and resided in Valdosta most of her adult life. She is survived by her beloved children, Carol Bonner Wetherington of Valdosta, Georgia, Stephen and Kay Bonner of Gordon, Georgia, Richard and Cindy Bonner of Valdosta, Georgia, and Benjamin Bonner of Bethlehem, Georgia; her treasured grandchildren, Britt and Tracy Wetherington of Boston, Georgia, Robin (Robbie) Wetherington of Dawsonville, Georgia and Payton Bonner of Conyers, Georgia, and her adored great-grand child; Jimmy Dewitt (Witt) Wetherington, II.

Mary touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity. She had a servant's heart and cared for all that she could with never a thought of reward. She faithfully cared for an invalid brother-in-law for more than 30 years. She loved nothing more than her family and enjoyed the company of her friends. She was her brother's keeper and one of the world's greatest cooks! Always the last to the table and the first washing dishes. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church, and formerly Lee Street Baptist Church. Gee Gee Mary you are dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Friday, November 18th, 2011, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm and a memorial service on Saturday, November 19th, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. both at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Ken Alford and Rev. Charlie Scarbrough will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Langdale Hospice House, 2263 Pineview Drive, Valdosta, Georgia 31602. The staff at the Langdale Hospice House gave such wonderful care and love for Mary in her last days and are greatly appreciated by the family.
