June 17, 1923 — September 29, 2005

Mary Elizabeth McBride, 82, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, September 29, 2005, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born on June 17, 1923, in Jacksonville, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Clifford D. and Carrie Tomlinson Mobley and widow of the late Edwin W. McBride. Mrs. McBride was a homemaker and a member of St. Augustine Church of Christ.

Survivors are her daughters and son-in-law, Betty Gail and Glenn Bishop of Douglasville, Janice Kay McBride of Rockledge, Florida, granddaughter and her husband, Michelle Ann and Derek Williams of Douglasville, step grandson, Wiley Bishop and his wife Phyllis and their children, Stephen Wiley and Hunter Britton Bishop, great grandchildren, Caleb Derek Williams, Hannah Elizabeth Williams and Jared Houston Williams of Douglasville: brothers and sisters in law, William H. “Bill” and Marilyn Mobley of Valdosta, Paul and Frances Mobley of Tampa, Florida, sisters and brothers in law, Louise Mobley Kent of Nashville, Lawanna and Spencer Balmer of Flowery Branch, Carolyn and Gene Griffin of Valdosta; a number of nieces and nephews and a very special care giver at Crestwood Nursing Home, Mary Bailey. Mrs. McBride was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Mobley.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. Larry Bundrick officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
