Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Connell Snellgrove

Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Connell Snellgrove, 60, of Hahira died peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Langdale Hospice House after a lengthy battle with cancer. Beth was born in Valdosta on September 17, 1958 to Mary Lou Tomlinson Connell and the late Bennie W. Connell, Sr. She graduated from Lowndes High School in 1976 and in 1977 she married her high school sweetheart, the love of her life, Roger A. Snellgrove. She worked outside the home occasionally but her greatest delight was a being a wife and mother. Beth enjoyed everything from taking kids to soccer practice to baking cookies at Christmas. Her main passion lived in the classroom at Hahira Elementary School with the Special Education Kindergarten class. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was an avid reader. She also had a strong passion for gardening and farm animals.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Roger A. Snellgrove of Hahira; her daughters, Lauren Snellgrove Smyth and her wife, Ella Smyth of Tulsa, OK, Kendall Anne Snellgrove of Valdosta, her son, Chris Connell Snellgrove of Hahira; her mother, Mary Lou Connell of Valdosta; two brothers and sisters in law, Bennie Wayne, Jr. and Tammy Lee Connell of Jennings, FL, Timothy Wayne and Debbie Connell of Cumming, GA; her mother in law, Jo Ann Snellgrove of Hahira; brother in law and sister in law, Terry and Donna Snellgrove of Lake Park; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Grace Snellgrove, her father, Bennie W. Connell, Sr. and her father in law, Walter Snellgrove, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, August 6, 2019 in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home with burial to follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8pm at the Martin/McLane Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Special Education Department at Hahira Elementary School.
