Blanche Wisenbaker, 95, of Lake Park, died Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Crestwood Nursing Home. She was born in Lowndes County on November 2, 1916 to the late George Columbus Pipkins and Pearlie Mae Hughes Pipkins. Mrs. Wisenbaker was a retired inspector with Levi Straus and was a member of Charity Baptist Church. "It is hard to say what we will miss most about our Granny. All of us have precious memories of fishing with Granny and then coming together with family and friends for a legendary fish fry put on by Granny and her sister, our Aunt. Nobody could put up vegetables like Granny could. She and Aunt Ava Nell could work from dawn til dusk and still have energy for more. The famous canoe accident can still make us laugh. We will never forget all of the Sunday dinners at Granny's, the table groaning with food and having to eat in shifts because there were so many of us. We all tried to save room for Granny's twelve layer chocolate cake. Mostly we will remember her generous spirit – whatever she had, she would share and whatever she could do to help, she would do it gladly. We will remember all of the knowledge that Granny passed on to us – it seemed she knew everything. Blanche Wisenbaker was the heart of our family and she takes a little piece of all our hearts with her now. But we know she is resting at the Master's feet and we will see her again one day."
She is survived by two daughters and one son in law, Latrelle Dodd Stevenson and Gary Stevenson of Lake Park and Diane Goldman of Savannah, seven grandchildren, Belinda Holmes (Danny), Cindy Henley (Jeff), Steve Dodd, Chiara Duke (Toby), Bobby Carter, Jr. (Chandra), Jeff Goldman, Jr. (Emily) and Joshua Goldman, eleven great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, one sister, Ava Nell Dennis of Valdosta and her special caretaker and CNA, Ruby Washington. Mrs. Wisenbaker is preceded in death by her husband, C. W. "Buck" Wisenbaker, her son, Bobby Carter, two sons in law, John Dodd and Jeff Goldman.
