Mary Alice Tinsley

Mary Alice Tinsley, 87, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, January 13, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Born in Quitman on January 2, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Smauel M. Weldon and Ava Lou Wetherington Weldon. A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Tinsley was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

Survivors are her loving husband of 63 years, John A. Tinsley of Valdosta; son and daughter in law, Buddy and Sharon Tinsley of Mims, Florida; daughter and son in law, Cathy and Steve Pannell of Orange, Texas, son and daughter in law, Jim and Ruby Wilson of Americus; twelve grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, numerous great great grandchildren. Mrs. Tinsley was preceded in death by sons, Tim Wilson and Stephen "Scotty" Tinsley, Sr., a sister, Effie Bunkley and brothers, Red Weldon and John B. Weldon.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church. Dr. Ernie Jones, Reverend Milton Sellars and Reverend Rogers Mays will officiate. Entombment will follow at the Tinsley family mausoleum at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Westside Baptist Church on Sunday from 2 p.m. until service time.
