Mary Alice O’Quinn Herndon, 89, of Statenville, died at her home on Friday, October 12, 2007. She was born on January 26, 1918 in Wayne County, Georgia to the late Ludwell and Irene O’Quinn. Mrs. Herndon was a member of Statenville United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, and was an active participant at the Echols County Senior Center.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Sue and Bob Horne of Los Angeles, CA; son and daughter-in-law, David and Sharon Herndon of Kennesaw; grandchildren, Christie Herndon of Kennesaw, Stacie and Brian Blitch of Colorado Springs, CO, Bobby Horne, who serves in the U.S. Military, Brad and Marta Horne of Los Angeles, CA; great grandchildren, Kelcie and Ansley Kirk of Kennesaw. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Fay O’Quinn of Odum; sister and brother-in-law, Alene and J.D. Patten of Lakeland, GA; sister-in-law, Jessie O’Quinn of St. Augustine, FL; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, David Wallace Herndon, Sr., brothers, Eldred O’Quinn, Harold O’Quinn, and Joe B. O’Quinn and her sister, Helen Poppell.
A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Fred Foster, Reverend John Evans Patten, and Reverend Chad O’Quinn officiating. Burial will follow at Statenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
