Marvin (Tom) Thomas Williams, 67, passed after a long illness March 18, 2015 at his Valdosta home surrounded by his family.
Tom was born June 23, 1947 in Jacksonville, FL, a son of Katie Allen Williams and James C. Williams.
He graduated from Jonesboro Senior High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force. In the USAF he served a tour of duty in Vietnam and later as a Military Police stationed at Moody Air Force Base, Valdosta. After his USAF career he joined the Valdosta Police Department. He later left the VPD to open his own business Eagle/Williams Security. Over the years he also acquired an answering service The Message Connection.
Tom is survived by his wife, Edith Delane Williams of Valdosta; his mother, Katie Williams of Union City; his two children, Cheryl Lee Williams and USAF TSgt. Marvin Thomas Williams II, both of Valdosta; two step children, Cecil Kelley and Jason Kelley, both of Valdosta; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and two brothers, Charles (Buster) Williams of Fruithurst, AL, and James C. Williams of Cartersville. He is preceded in death by his father, James Williams, and 2 great grandchildren.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Williams will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2015, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Dr. Carrol Joye officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
