Marvin Julian Myers, 80, of Valdosta passed away April 29, 2015 at South Georgia Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born July 20, 1934 in Willacoochee, GA to the late John Jacob and Maggie Bell Cannady Myers. A United States Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, he went to work at Owens-Illinois and eventually retired after 27 years. He has served as a deacon for many years and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Mr. Myers is survived by his wife, (Jean) Delores Fletcher Myers of Valdosta; four daughters, Cindy Weeks of Soldotna, AK, Marla Myers of Nashville, GA, Joni(Jerry) Arnold of Hahira, GA, Julie Thompson of Valdosta; a step-son, Ed Leake of Valdosta; a step-daughter, Pam (Ken) Olson of Madison, FL; nine grandchildren, Ivy Weeks Petrak, Ivan Weeks, Daniel and Lee Johnson, Sarah, Hannah, and Joshua Arnold, Faith and Luke Thompson; two step-grandchildren, Lindsey Olson Ertzberger, Heather Olson; nine great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Esther (Tom) Guest of Marietta, GA; sister-in-law, Mary Myers; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lounette Myers, grandson, Caled Arnold; six brothers, Oliver, Virgil, J.A., Miller, Nezzip, and Harold; three sisters, Ethel, Mary Elmo, and Myrtle.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2015 at Benevolence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Carson McLane Funeral Home from 10- 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. Carson McLane Funeral Home
