Marty Volz, 56, of Valdosta, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2012, at South Georgia Medical Center.
Marty was born November 23, 1956 in Grand Haven, Michigan, a son of the late Carlton Martin and Betty (Bebee) Volz. He had been a Mechanic with American Glass and was of the Christian faith.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Volz; two sons, Carlton Martin Volz III and Thomas Joseph Volz; one daughter, Angie Hannah Volz, and son-in-law, Roy Hannah, all of Valdosta; nine grandchildren, Taylor and Gage Turner of Valdosta, Casey and Samantha Volz of North Dakota, Keely Cooper, Kylee and Rayne Hannah, all of Valdosta, Rayven Volz and Brianna Deblock of Grand Rapids, MI; four sisters, Pam and Bill Michels of Spring Lake, MI, Emma and Rick Wydeck of Grand Haven, MI, Lori Volz of Muskegon, MI, and Kristina and Joseph Stewart of Muskegon, MI; two sisters-in-law, Patty Williams of Grand Rapids, MI, and Ericka Chase of Wyoming, MI; two brothers-in-law, John Challa III and Beth of Jenison, MI, and Chuck Tobias and Dale of Allendale, MI; his mother-in-law, Virginia Hughes of Valdosta; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kathy and John Challa of Grand Rapids, MI; and several nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his family and his close friend, Dan Hagan; Marty's wonderful neighbors and church family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 28, 2012, in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Dr. Henry Cannington, Jr. officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
