Martha Rovall Orenstein, age 85 of Valdosta, GA since 1973 and formerly of Hartford, CT, died on Thursday, November 17, 2005 at her residence after a lengthy illness. Born on February 1, 1920 in Springfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Barney and Bessie Cohen. She was an Orthodox Jew and attended Temple Israel. Mrs. Orenstein and her late husband Edward Orenstein were the former owners of the Yellow Cab Company.
Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and William Black of Valdosta; one son, Sanford Rovall of Valdosta; one granddaughter, Lisa Johnson and her husband Michael of Valdosta; three great-grandchildren, Brittney, Peyton and Stephanie Johnson all of Valdosta; one brother and sister-in-law, Irving and Bess Cohen of Merritt Island, FL; one sister-in-law Frances Kahn of Infield, CT and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Jerome Rovall.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2005 at the Sunset Hill Cemetery with Rabbi Moshe Elbaz officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Odyssey Hospice or Temple Israel to have a tree planted in Israel.
