Martha Matilda Hartman (nee: Anderson) passed away November 23, 2005 in Valdosta, Georgia. Memorial services are pending.
Martha was born December 6, 1944 in Springfield, Massachusetts. She was a graduate of Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, Bloomsburg University, Bucknell University and Austin Theological Seminary. At the time of her death she was an Associate Professor of English at Valdosta State University. She was previously on the English faculty at Texas A&M Kingsville and served as the Pastor of the First Congregational Church in Russell, Kansas and Gorman Community Church in Gorman, Kansas.
Survivors include her children Liisa Berger and husband David of Cary, North Carolina, Ronald (Buddy) Hartman, Jr., and wife Debbie of Keller, Texas, John Hartman of Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts and Jesse Hartman and his wife Melissa of Agawam, Massachusetts; seven grandchildren; mother, Marjorie Anderson of Vineyard Haven and Tyler, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Ellis of Springfield, Oregon, sister and brother-in-law Vera and Ron Bagent of Granville, Ohio, brother and sister-in-law John and Frances Anderson of Tyler, Texas, and sister Miriam Anderson of New Bern, North Carolina; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Aarne Anderson of Vineyard Haven.
