Martha Louise �Mommy� Peacock Arrington, 88, of Valdosta and resident of the Baptist Village in Lake Park for the past two years died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born in Bainbridge on April 30, 1922 to the late Spurgeon and Zeta Ford Peacock and had lived in Valdosta since 1969. Mrs. Arrington was a member of the Open Bible Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her church family and grandsons.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Kristi and Luis Bejarano of Valdosta, four grandsons, Robby Steltenpohl of Valdosta, Cory Steltenpohl of Chattanooga, TN. and Ryan Stelenpohl of Valdosta, Fernando Gomez of Valdosta, her brother, Ron Peacock of Yulee, Fla., numerous nieces and nephews, two brothers in law, Wiley Herndon and Joe Slocum both of Valdosta and her incredible Open Bible Baptist Church Family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie W. Arrington.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the Open Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Carrol Joye and Mr. Michael Alvarez officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-7pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Open Bible Christian School, 3992 N. Oak Street Ext., Valdosta, GA 31605.
