Martha Alday

Martha Alday, 72, of Raleigh, North Carolina and formerly of Valdosta, Georgia died at her residence in Raleigh on Tuesday, November 10, 2009.  She was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on August 21, 1937 to the late Raymond Collins and Juanita Sauls Collins.  She retired from the law firm of Dover, Miller, Stone, and Karras as a legal secretary, and she was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh.

In addition to her mother, other survivors include two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty and Harold Brady of Greensboro and Anne Bokeny of Raleigh; a brother, Raymond (Pete) Collins of Winter Haven, Florida; four nieces and four nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband James "Red" Alday.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Riverview Memorial Gardens in Valdosta with Rev. Jeff Redfearn officiating.  The family will receive friends Saturday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.  A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh.  Memorials can be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 4815 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC  27609 or Hospice of Wake County Foundation, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC  27607.
