Marlene Pennington Terrell, 75, of Valdosta died Friday, May 8, 2009 at Lakehaven Nursing Home. She was born on May 29, 1933 in Augusta to the late Alton L. and Virginia Chitty Pennington and had lived in Valdosta most of her life. She loved to bowl, play the piano and spend time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Terrell was a resident of the Spanish Mission Apartments for twenty five years and was fondly known by young and old alike as “MeMaw”. She volunteered as a bus monitor for many years at the apartments making sure the children got on and off the bus and to their homes safely.
Survivors include her two daughters and sons in law, Sandra and Don McGlamery of Valdosta, Donna and Bob Hoffman of Lexington, SC., five sons and four daughters in law, Eddie Terrell of Valdosta, David A., Jr. and Helen Terrell of Newport News, VA., Mark and Andria Terrell of Valdosta, Bruce and Stephanie Terrell of Moultrie, Michael and Gretchen Terrell of Valdosta, 18-grandchildren, 17-great grandchildren, a half brother, John “Jack” Bolen of Albany, sister in law, Jeannie “Lameria” Pennington of Valdosta, her aunt, Lillian Chitty Manganaro of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husband, David A. Terrell, Sr. and her brother, Larry Pennington.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, May 12, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Sayre officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
