Mark Merrell Gilliland

MARK MERRELL GILLILAND, 49, of Valdosta died Monday, September 26, 2005 from injuries sustained in an accident in Brooks County. He was born on December 28, 1955 in Atlanta to Patricia Merrell Gilliland and the late William Ray Gilliland and had lived in Valdosta for forty three years. He was a chiropractor and an active member of the Central Avenue Church of Christ. Mark was a volunteer with the Community Soup Kitchen, the Red Cross Training Program and an avid outdoorsman who loved to go camping and deep sea fishing. He loved being with people and due to an accident at age 17, Mark was an amputee who did not let the results of that accident hinder him from doing the things that he loved to do.

Survivors include his three children, Mark Daniel Gilliland, Olivia Danielle Gilliland and William Dane Gilliland all of Hahira, his mother, Patricia Gilliland of Valdosta, his brother, Bill Gilliland of Phoenix, AZ., his sister and brother in law, Stephanie and Brian Stallings of Acworth, GA., his fiancé, Darlene Herndon Boyd of Valdosta, his nephew and nieces, Jeromy Gamble of Hudson, Fla., April Tinsley Harper of Acworth, Jennifer Kimbrell and Melissa Gilliland both of Phoenix, AZ., three great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Friday, September 30, 2005 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. C. J. Moffett officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
