Marjorie Marie Goodson

Marjorie Marie Becton Goodson, 86, of Cherry Lake, Florida, died on Sunday July 23, 2017 at her residence. She was born on October 9, 1930 in Valdosta to the late Jesse E. and Allie Mae Cribbs Becton and has been a lifelong resident of this area. She retired from the Coca-Cola Bottling Company but had also worked for years as part of the Kitchen Crew at Park Avenue United Methodist Church where she was a member. She loved to work in her yard, read the newspaper, and was known as a people person. She loved and cared for her family, especially her grandchildren, and sought to serve in whatever capacity that she could.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Patti Goodson of Valdosta; granddaughters, Jennifer Rodriguez of Oviedo, Florida, and Melissa Hester of Whigham, Georgia; a grandson, Tyler Goodson of Athens, Georgia; great-granddaughters, Jazmyne Rodriguez and Alexa Joy Rodriguez of Oviedo, Florida; great-grandsons, Ray Hester and Kale Hester of Whigham, Georgia; a sister-in-law, Pat Becton of Valdosta; a son-in-law, Barry Henderson of Ochlocknee, Georgia; a special neighbor, Reid Farrell of Cherry Lake, Florida, and her special friends, The Kitchen Crew from Park Avenue United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Emmett E. (Bud) Goodson; her daughter, Joy Goodson Henderson, and her brother, Jerry Becton.
Services for Marjorie Marie Becton Goodson will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
