Marion Pollard Grimes, 94, lifetime resident of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, after a lengthy illness. Born on November 21, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Mary Anne Driscoll Pollard and widow of the late Charles Grimes. Mrs. Grimes was educated in the Valdosta City Schools and Georgia Florida Commercial College. She had retired from CC Varnedoe where she had been Secretary Treasurer for 30 years. A member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church and the Catholic Womans Club, Mrs. Grimes was also active in the Business and Professional Womans Club and was past president of the original Magnolia Garden Club. <br><br>Survivors are her sister, Hazel M. Pollard of Valdosta, close friend, Mary George and family of Lake Park, nieces, Marilyn Christinson of Mount Rest, North Carolina, Betty Jean Wilson of Dade City, Florida, nephew, James E. Pollard of Sparte, North Carolina, sister in law, Sarah C. Pollard of Mount Rest, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Harold, Earle, Francis, Charles and Roy Pollard and a sister, Helen Pollard. <br><br>Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church. Father John O’Brien will officiate with burial following at Sunset Hill Cemetery. A Rosary will be held on Friday evening at the Carson McLane Funeral Home at 5 p.m. with visitation afterwards until 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. John’s Building Fund.
