Marion Opal Merriman

Marion Opal "Miss Mother" Merriman, 84, of Hahira died Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Langdale Hospice House after a brief illness. She was born on November 11, 1927 in Laurens County, Georgia to the late General O. and Nora Frances Scarborough Warren and had lived in Hahira for many years. Mrs. Merriman was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Many lives were touched by "Miss Mother" through her childrens' ministry at Fellowship Baptist Church and Miss Mother's Kiddie Care. She enjoyed watching the birds, growing african violets, gathering fresh vegetables from the garden and cooking. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons and daughters in law; Bobby and Gwen Merriman of Hahira, Bruce and Nancy Merriman of Franklin, NC, Brent and Teresa Merriman of Hahira, seven grandchildren and their spouses, Missy (Darel) Rayburn, Mica (Steve) Brooks all of Hahira, Jessie (Johnny) Russell of Flowery Branch, GA, Angie (Scott) Bain of Hiram, GA, Austin (Sarah) Merriman of Hahira, Dustin Merriman of Nashville, GA, and Kristin Merriman of Valdosta, 10-great grandchildren, four sisters and a brother in law, Doris Larisey of Palmetto, GA, Jerrel Daniels of Valdosta, Lois Jackson of Mayday, GA, Joy and George Smith of Melbourne, Fla, one brother, Jack Warren of Adel, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Merriman and one infant granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, June 1, 2012 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Ike Jefferson officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery.
