Marion Everett Adams

November 4, 1930 — February 4, 2009

Marion Everett Adams, 78, of Valdosta died unexpectantly Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Moultrie on November 4, 1930 to the late James E. and Mazie McHargue Adams and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mr. Adams was very active in the Church of Latter Day Saints in Valdosta and served as organist and had published a book of poetry titled "With Light Tread" in 1958 (Vantage Press). Mr. Adams received a B.S., Criminal Justice in 1998, M. A., Public Administration in 2000 and M.A., Criminal Justice in 2002 from Valdosta State University. He also obtained an Associate of Nursing, New York University, 1990, Doctorate of Chiropractic, Life University in 1977, Juris Doctorate, Woodrow Wilson School of Law in 1970 and B.A., Religion, Southern Nazarene University in 1961. Mr. Adams was a registered nurse in the states of Georgia and Florida and a Medical Technologist. He was employed with the U. S. Air Force, Office of Special Investigations, 1950-1954, U. S. Post Office in Valdosta from 1954-1960, Pineview General Hospital in Valdosta as Medical Technologist, 1962-1967, was the owner/manager of Marion Medical Lab, Inc. in Atlanta, GA from 1967-1975 and a freelance chiropractor in Valdosta from 1975-1986.

Survivors include daughter and son in law, Abigail R. and William J. Griner of Athens, son, Jonathan A. Adams of Valdosta, mother of Abigail and Jonathan, Martha J. Adams of Valdosta, daughter, Amory W. Delk and her two children of Waycross and son, Marion E. "Bucky" Adams, II of Atlanta. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Dean Adams.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm, Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Blaine Pearce officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1pm until service time at the church.
