Marion Dees Copeland, 90, of Lake Park, passed away on March 30, 2018 at her residence. Mrs. Copeland was born in Valdosta on July 23, 1927 to the late Carnett and Clara McPhail Dees. She retired from Owens-Illinois Bag Plant after many years of service. Mrs. Copeland attended Central Avenue Church of Christ, where she was dedicated to the visitation program and the ladies bible class. She also loved to cook.
Survivors include her daughters, Teresea Story and Cynthia Copeland, both of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Tilford and Diane Copeland, of Byron, GA; grandchildren and their spouses, John Lee and Stephanie Story, of Ellabell, GA, Cristy and Jon Waters, Tracy and Steve Waters, all of Warner Robins, GA; great grandchildren, Coleson and Connor Story, of Ellabell, Chase and Chandler Waters, Ty and Zadie Waters, all of Warner Robins; special friends, Kerry Morris, of Lake Park, Nancy Swanson, of Valdosta; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Copeland, Sr.; an infant daughter, Clara Eunice Copeland; son in law, Herman Story; siblings and their spouses, Edward and Francis Dees, Lanell and Stanley Scroczynski, Bill and Doris Dees, Dorothy Beggs, Helen and Buford Watson, her twin Miriam and Frank Fletcher, Sr., Sam and Marjorie Dees, Gerald and Betty Dees.
Funeral services for Mrs. Copeland will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. John Klimko will officiate. Burial will follow at Dasher Cemetery. Family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 9:30 – 11:00 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Central Avenue Church of Christ Building Fund or Georgia Christian Schools in Dasher.
