Marie Howell Edwards

Marie Howell Edwards, 91, lifelong resident of Valdosta, died at South Georgia Medical Center on Monday, January 24, 2011. Born in Valdosta on March 11, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Bob and Emma Daugharty Howell. Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker and she loved to fish and sew. She and her late husband, H. B. Edwards, Jr. were members of Lee Street Baptist Church for many years

Survivors are her sons and daughters in law, H.B. III and Pam Edwards of Valdosta, John Kent, Sr., and Vikki Edwardsof Lake Park, William Daugharty and Ann Edwards of Valdosta; grandchildren, Hobart Brett (Liz) Edwards of Fayetteville, Beth E. (Jason) DeLoach, John Gee (Samantha) Edwards of Valdosta, Meg Edwards of Quito, Ecquador, John K. Edwards, Jr., of Valdosta, Kelly Edwards (Ben) Copeland of Marshallville, Alyssa E. (Travis) Pate, Will Edwards of Valdosta; eleven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice McLeod and a brother, Billy Howell.

Graveside services and interment will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Reverend David Tart will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to a favorite charity.
