Marian Thomas Devane

Marian Thomas DeVane, 78, of Valdosta, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at Community Hospice House, Vidalia.
She was born November 1, 1936 in Jennings, FL, a daughter of the late Elder Maurice and Neta Cunningham Thomas. As a Preacher's daughter and a Preacher's wife, she ministered to many people throughout her life. She was a member of Grace Community Chapel and was the church pianist for many years. For over twenty years she attended the Ladies Precept Bible Study in Valdosta.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Lynn DeVane of Valdosta; four grandchildren, Gregory Colding and Erica Parcell of Savannah, Gabriel Law of Valdosta, Jason Colding and wife Dani of Alexandria, VA, and Alaina Colding of Clemson, SC; one great-granddaughter, Alexa Lyann Colding of Kingsland; one brother, Marshall Thomas and wife Joan of Valdosta; two sisters-in-law, Louise DeVane Alexander of Canton, and Mary DeVane Barrett of Lakeland, FL; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elder F. Arthur DeVane; son, Mac Arthur DeVane; and brothers-in-law, Warren Malcolm Alexander and Turpin Wilcoxin Barrett.
The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Elder T.C. Norris officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015, at Southview Cemetery, Thomaston, with Elder Emerson Proctor officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home prior to the service.
