Marian S. Conrad

Marian S. Conrad, beloved wife of the late Steven F. Conrad, mother, grandmother and great grandmother died on March 31, 2012 in Valdosta, Georgia. She was 87 years old.
She was born on July 25, 1924 in Pilger Nebraska and lived throughout the Midwest and Los Angeles California until she married. She was in radio broadcasting starting in Green Bay Wisconsin and ending in Chattanooga Tennessee. Her employment included the Tennessee Valley Authority, substitute teaching for the Chattanooga City Schools and later worked in the legal profession.
She was an avid community volunteer involved with the Woodmore Elementary School and Dalewood Middle School Parent Teacher Associations in Chattanooga Tennessee and was very active in numerous local and statewide political campaigns in Tennessee. Chief among her many services was her membership at the Lutheran Church of the Ascension in Chattanooga where she was Sunday School Superintendent and sang in the church choir for almost 30 years. She was an avid golfer, artist, dancer, singer and loved to entertain. After living in Chattanooga for 44 years, she and her husband retired to Ocala Florida for 14 years and then moved to Valdosta Georgia in 2010.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Delthia Conrad of Valdosta, Georgia, daughter and son-in-law, Lynne Conrad Marvet and Martin Marvet of Seattle, Washington, two grandchildren, Staci Skiles of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Peter and his wife, Rebecca Conrad also of Chattanooga, five great -grandchildren, Kayla, Trevor and Lucas Skiles and Riley and Macey Conrad, all of Chattanooga.

Marian was predeceased by her husband Steven F. Conrad, her only sister, Maybell Parish, mother, Beulah Cornett Schwein and father, Oscar Theodore Schwein.

A memorial service will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 720 South Germantown Road in Chattanooga on Tuesday April 3, 2012 at 10:45am. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
