Margie “Sue” Stokes passed away after a lengthy illness on May 23, 2021. She was born on February 17, 1938 to the late Fred and Maggie Noles. She was originally born in Adel, but later moved to Valdosta. It was there that she met her late husband, Charlie Stokes. Sue and Charlie lived in Valdosta the rest of their lives. It was there on December 19, 1958 that Sue and Charlie were blessed with their one and only child, Debbie Stokes Hill. Sue was a wonderful, supportive and loving mother to Debbie. She worked as a beautician in Valdosta for many years where she owned and operated her beauty salon, Sue/Carol Beauty Salon. Sue truly loved her job and was very successful with it. She loved all of her clients dearly. Most importantly, Sue loved her family more than anything and was always there for her daughter, Debbie and her son in law Randy. She was a wonderful grandmother to her only grandchild, Travis. She loved to play checkers and go fishing with him regularly. In addition, she introduced her love for gardening and agriculture to him when he was 3 years old, planting trees together on the family’s property. She loved all outdoor activities which included gardening, horses, fishing, and growing flowers. She will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her late husband, Charlie Stokes. She is survived by her daughter and son in law Debbie and Randy, as well as her grandson, Travis. She is also survived by her loving sister Jean Orton of Valdosta, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Stokes’s service will be held at 11am in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. A visitation for family and friends will be from 10-11am.
