Margaret Smith

Margaret Autry Smith, 82, of Statesboro, died on Thursday, July 5, 2012. Born in Blackshear, Ga to the late Lee Owen and Golie Mae Roe Autry. She had lived in Valdosta before moving to Statesboro. She was a member of the Greenwood Baptist Church. She was retired after a career over twenty years with AT&T and Bell South as a telephone operator and Supervisor.
Survivors include her daughter & son in law, Marsha Ann & Joe Herrington of Statesboro; two sons & daughters in law, Michael O. & Debra Smith of St. Augustine, FL and James Kenneth & Sandy Smith of Prattville, AL: grandchildren, Angela Smith Gregory, James Lee Smith, Christopher Kenneth Smith; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Smith, three sisters, Leola Carter, Mildred Pike and Myrtle Anderson.
A funeral service for Mrs. Smith will be held at ten a.m. on Monday, July 9, 2012 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Rev. Chip Fuller will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 until 5 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, July 8, 2012.
