Margaret O. Mcpherson

Margaret O. McPherson, 89, of Valdosta beloved mother, mother in law and family Matriarch passed away at her home with her family beside her on Sunday, March 2, 2008. She was born in Spring City, Tennessee to the late Albert F. and Florence Faust Odom. She graduated as valedictorian from Paducah Jr. College at the age of 44 in 1964 and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BA in 1967. Mrs. McPherson was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church and a retired school teacher from Mt. Olive and Doyle Middle Schools in Knoxville, Tennessee. She loved to read and work crossword and sudoka puzzles and her granddaughter, Laura called her "the Queen of Puzzles". She was an award-winning watercolor artist and her family will remember her wonderful sharing sense of humor. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susanna McPherson.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Allen and Juanita McPherson of Hixson, TN., Janice Norton of Valdosta, Bill and Susan McPherson of Buford, Ga. and Joe and Brenda McPherson of Maryville, TN., nephew and his wife, Al and Pat Corum of Cleveland, GA.., grandchildren, Michael McPherson of Rockwall, TX., Leah Sweat of Seymour, TN., Jennifer Walters of Knoxville, TN., Laura Joyce of Maryville, TN., Bruce McPherson serving in the military in Afghanistan, Scott McPherson, Joy McPherson, Holly McPherson, Melody McPherson, Kelly McPherson and Christy McPherson all of Buford, GA, great grandchildren, Austin McPherson, Joshua McPherson, Joel McPherson, Tres Elliott, Joel Elliott and Grayson Walters.

Memorial services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Crossroads Baptist Church with Dr. Ken Alford and Rev. Charlie Scarborough officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
