Margaret Mary (Peggy) Mellors

Margaret Mary (Peggy) Mellors, 72, of Hahira died Friday, June 4, 2021, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on January 14, 1949, in Leominster, MA to the late Bernard Richard and Barbara Damon Doyle. Peggy attended high school in Leominster, MA and went on to college at Colorado Women’s College where she met and married her husband, George Mellors. They both attended Ohio State University. Peggy was a camp director for many years and had a passion for youth, children, and the Girl Scouts organization. While Peggy has lived in many different states, including Massachusetts, New Jersey, and California, she finally settled in the Hahira/Valdosta, GA following retirement where she has found a community of church, quilting, and knitting friends. Peggy loved quilting and enjoyed sharing her art with everyone who needed a warm blanket. Peggy was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Valdosta, GA and she will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her husband, George W. Mellors of Hahira, GA; her son and daughter in law, Andrew and Amy Mellors of Leominster, MA; her daughter, Laurie Mellors of Hahira, GA; three grandchildren, Addison Mellors, Jacob Mellors, Mason Farber; her sister and brother-in-law, Bim and Jack Krutek ; her brothers and sister-in-law, Rick and Kathy Doyle, Jeffrey Doyle, sister-in-law, Pam Doyle. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Doyle and a sister, Cathryn Doyle.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 11am on Friday, June 11, 2021, at 11:00a.m., at Christ Episcopal Church with inurnment to follow in the Christ Episcopal Church Urn Garden, 1521 N. Patterson St., Valdosta, GA 31602. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts in honor of her longtime love of youth summer camps.
