Margaret Jones Langdale, 90, of Valdosta, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 2, 2017. Born in Valdosta on October 3, 1927, Margaret was the daughter of the late James Cooper Jones and Elsie Haldeen Stone Jones. She graduated from Valdosta High School in the mid 1940’s and attended Georgia State Women’s College where she met John Langdale after he returned from his service in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Margaret received her MRS degree when she married John on December 20, 1946. She was a devoted wife and homemaker, supporting her husband and her family. A faithful member of her church, First Baptist of Valdosta, where she taught Sunday School for decades, helped direct the College Ministry, and participated in the International Ministry. Additionally, Margaret was a member of the WMU, served on the Board of Baptist Village and actively supported the Migrant Workers Mission. She was a member of the Colonial Dames, The DAR, and she enjoyed Book Review.
Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Lee and John Mikuta, daughter, Margaret E. Langdale, son, John W. Langdale, Jr., six grandchildren, Wesley and Kimberly Langdale, Jim and Casey Langdale, Will Hancock, III, Jackson Ross “Jack” and Gini Langdale, Annie Lee and Daniel Livingston, Matt and Susannah Langdale all of Valdosta; eleven great grandchildren; sister-in- law, Barbara Z. Jones of Jacksonville, FL., and caregivers, Sarah Davis and Melissa Ogletree of Valdosta. Mrs. Langdale is preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Langdale, Sr. and a brother, James C. Jones, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at eleven a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at First Baptist Church with Reverend Mac Weaver officiating. A private family committal will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday morning prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Langdale Hospice House, 2263 Pineview Drive, Valdosta, GA 31602 or to First Baptist Church, 200 W. Central Ave, Valdosta, GA 31601.
