Margaret B. Cooper, 92, of Valdosta died Sunday, March 29, 2009 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on August 8, 1916 in Gardi, Georgia to the late Lambert and Ruby King Bennett and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mrs. Cooper was a Home Economist with Georgia Power and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She attended Georgia State Woman's College now Valdosta State University. Mrs. Cooper was a member of the Valdosta Garden Club, the Georgia Power Company Ambassadors and helped to establish Citizens of Georgia Power Company.
Survivors include her husband, Winston M. Cooper of Valdosta, son and daughter in law, David and Faith Cooper of Lawrenceville, two grandchildren, Caroline Cooper and Kevin Cooper both of Lawrenceville, one sister, Ruth Heule of Thomaston and a niece, Nan Brown of Henry County. She was preceded in death by her brothers, William E. Bennett, Frederick Lambert Bennett, Alexander Joe Bennett and Earl Spencer Bennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10am, Wednesday, April 1, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Mason officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2pm, Wednesday at Midway Church Cemetery in Gardi. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7-9pm at the funeral home.
