Margaret Anderson

September 6, 1919 — December 30, 2014

Margaret Anderson, 95, of Valdosta died on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at South Georgia Medical Center following a recent illness. She was born on September 6, 1919 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Samuel Harding Cook and Ladie R. Warren. She was a homemaker and during WWII worked on B25 aircraft at Morrison Field in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was very active in the community having served as a volunteer pink lady with South Georgia Medical center for many years. She was also an active tennis player, and was a member of the walk and talk club that met at the Valdosta Mall, the Merry Makers with First United Methodist Church, and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. For over 20 years, she attended Victory Baptist Church with her son, Ronnie.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Carol Anderson from Concord, North Carolina; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Clamon Browning of Valdosta; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Marjorie Anderson of Lake Park; grandchildren and their spouses, Jon and Melanie Anderson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Blake and Jackie Anderson of Concord, North Carolina, Margaret Anne and Lee Newsome of Lake Park, Martiele Sineath of Atlanta, and Austin McLeod of Valdosta; great-grandchildren, Joshua Anderson, Joseph Anderson, Jonah Anderson, Declan Anderson, Travis Newsome, Ronnie Newsome, Jesse Lee Newsome, and Trevor Newsome; numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend, Ed Thomason of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Robert Penn Anderson; a great-granddaughter, Victoria LeeAnne Newsome; a brother, George Warren, and a sister, Ellen Williams.

A graveside service for Margaret Anderson will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at the Sunset Hill Cemetery with The Reverend Dr. Dave Johnson and Reverend Steve Ward officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Friday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
