Marcella “Lou” Clara English, 49, of Valdosta, passed away at her home on Thursday, December 2, 2010, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
She was born September 22, 1961 in Tampa, FL, a daughter of the late Morris William and Frances Lee Tyson Keene. She moved to Valdosta with her parents while she was in the sixth grade. Lou had worked as a waitress at the Holiday Inn for twenty-five years, and as an insurance agent with numerous companies.
She was a member of Clyattville First United Methodist Church, where she was saved at a young age. She greatly loved her grandchildren, was always very energetic, happy, had a wonderful smile, and was very giving. In her youth she enjoyed skating, swimming and dancing.
She is survived by her husband of thirty-two years, Craig S. English of Valdosta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen M. and Ruty English of Ft. Payne, AL, and Justin C. and Nicole English of Valdosta; one daughter and son-in-law, Ashley F. and Milton Thornton of Valdosta; six grandchildren, Justin, April, Wyatt, Eric, Helen and Perstephanie; and she was anticipating the birth of a granddaughter, Autumn Cheyenne; two sisters, Deborah Keene of Tampa, FL, and Marsha Odom and husband David of Clarksville, TN; two brothers, Gary Keene and wife Nancy of Youngsville, NC, and William Keene of Valdosta; two special nieces who were like her sisters, Cindy Keating of Ashland City, TN, and Kelly Johnson and husband Timothy of Ozark, AL; a special cousin, Dolly Mosley of Ocala, FL; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jimmy and Shirley English of Valdosta; and many additional nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by one sister, Gwendolyn Keene.
Funeral Services for Lou will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, December 4, 2010, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home of Valdosta, with Dr. Skip Van Nus officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the services, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm.
