Major Douglas K. Rothenhofer

Major Douglas K. Rothenhofer, 33 of Valdosta since February 1998 and formerly of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, died on Friday, December 1, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center from injuries sustained in an accident. He was born on March 1, 1973 in Ft. Wayne. Serving in the United States Air Force, he was an AT-38 Instructor in the 39th Fighter Training Squadron at Moody Air Force Base and a F16 Pilot. Douglas was a Dadaelion member, President of the Footprints Sunday School Class at Park Avenue United Methodist Church, and a member of the United Methodist Men.

Survivors are his wife, Angela Rothenhofer of Valdosta; daughter, Kathryn, and his second daughter who will be born in April 2007; his father and stepmother, Larry and Patricia Rothenhofer of Ft. Wayne; sister and brother-in-law, Jill and Kevin Sherlock of Columbus, IN; nephew, Spencer Sherlock and niece, Paige Sherlock, also of Columbus; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Arleta and Joseph Owens of Ft. Wayne. His is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of colleagues and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Annette Meyers Rothenhofer.

Funeral services will be 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Park Avenue United Methodist Church with Dr. Craig Rikard officiating. Burial will be in Ft. Wayne at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery on Saturday, December 9, 2006. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
