Maedell Palmer Duncan

September 10, 1922 — November 9, 2011

Maedell Palmer Duncan, 89, of Valdosta, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on September 10, 1922 in Mitchell County, GA to the late Elijah Owen and Mary Cobb Palmer. Mrs. Duncan was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. In June 1943 she married Francis Duncan and lived in Thomasville until moving to Valdosta in 1963. She worked at Varnedoes, Sears and South Georgia Medical Center from where she retired. Mrs. Duncan was also a seamstress for over fifty years designing and making wedding gowns. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Duncan was a prayer warrior and she loved and trusted the Lord for every area of her life.

She is survived by a daughter and son in law, Portia and John Wilkinson of Hahira, a son and daughter in law, Scott and Dale Duncan of Valdosta, four grandchildren, Chad Wilkinson of Hahira, Joan Wilder of Sharpsburg, Todd Duncan of Valdosta and Joey Duncan of Valdosta, four great grandchildren, Cole Duncan, Riley, Ansley and Nathan Wilder, a sister, Elizabeth Smith of Clayton, NC, nieces and nephews, Talarie Giddens of Hahira, Sheatiel Carter, Padon Hurst, Kyle Hurst and Elan Reaves of Valdosta, Beth Stotler, David Smith, Jr., Randy Smith, Paul Smith, Ronnie Smith and Glenn Smith of Raleigh, NC. Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Francis V.Duncan as well as a sister Elaine Hurst Reaves.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 12, 2011 at three thirty p. m. at the graveside at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Wayne Robertson and Pastor Wayne Hughes officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Light of Messiah Ministry, P. O.
