Mae Tomlinson Smith, 91, of Valdosta, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Cook County on November 22, 1916 to the late Joseph Sirmans Tomlinson and Augusta Georgia Mathis Tomlinson. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of Morningside Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons in law, Patsy Smith Pitts and Brenda Smith Griffis and Gary Griffis of Valdosta, Judy Smith Jordan and Corky Jordan of Hahira, one daughter in law, Karen Madden Smith of Byron, nine grandchildren, David Pitts (Sandie), Cindy Pitts Roberts (Phillip), Donald Henry Smith, Jr., Bradley Carlton Smith, Mindy Griffis Fletcher (Robert), Ragan Jordan Duggan (Johnny), Gregory Wayne Griffis (Chanyn), Jay Michael Jordan, Nicole Lange (Ed), nine great grandchildren, Lauren Fulgham, Colby Fletcher, Danielle Fletcher, Stephen Fletcher, Katelyn Lange, Rachel Lange, Zachary Lange, Brody Roberts and Parker Roberts, one sister, Myrtice Landers of Anderson, SC, one brother and sister in law, Elwood and Lessie Tomlinson of Lake Park. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband, Lucious Henry Smith, one son, Donald Henry Smith, two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 19, 2008 at eleven a. m. in the chapel of the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira with Reverend Bob Willis and Elder Thad Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Bethany Hospice whose staff was so gracious, kind and caring during her illness. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Friday at the funeral home.
