October 13, 1922 — December 17, 2006

Mae Cochran New, 84, of Valdosta, went to be with her Lord after a long illness on Sunday, December 17, 2006 at her son’s residence in Raleigh, NC. She was born in Gainesville, GA on October 13, 1922 to the late William Vassie and Katherine Pearl Pinson Cochran and the widow of the late Jimmy New of Valdosta. Mrs. New was a loving wife and mother, a homemaker and a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. She was dedicated to the support and well-being of her family throughout her life and had numerous friends throughout the community.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters in law, Marshall New of Port Townsend, Washington, Wayne and Leslie New of Denver, CO, David and Mary New of Raleigh, NC, and five grandchildren, Charles New, Lauren New, Camille New, Jessica New and Megan New.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 21, 2006 at two p. m. at Crossroads Baptist Church with Reverend Charlie Scarborough officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from five until seven p. m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Wake County, NC, 1300 Saint Mary’s Street, Fourth Floor, Raleigh, NC 27605.
