Madelyn Lauralou Bentley, 82, of Lake Park, died on Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida after a lengthy illness. Born in Berrien County July 21, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Edward Oliver and Irene Floyd Rogers. She was greatly loved and depended on as the matriarch of her family. She also loved her church family and yet looked forward to being in heaven with her Lord Jesus. Many friend and loved ones affectionately referred to her a “Granny”. She was a member of the Lake Park Church of God.
Survivors are her daughters and sons in law, Barbara and John Lucero of Florahome, Florida, Marie Hayes, Wanda and Acie Tew of Lake Park, Wilma Jean and J. C. Cooley of Adger, Alabama, Nancy and Jerry Jenkins of Live Oak, Florida; sister, Mona Mattola of Tampa, Florida; brothers and sister in law, Waldo and Jenny Rogers of Jasper, Florida, Elmer Rogers of Valdosta; daughters in law, Betty White of Live Oak, Linda White of Jacksonville, Florida; 39 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, James Edward White and Leo P. Bentley, two sons, Edward Allen White, Jackson Harmon White and a granddaughter, Jennifer Ruth Bays.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lake Park Church of God with Reverend Keith Sandlin officiating. Mrs. Bentley will lie in state from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
