M. C. Wetherington, Jr.

M. C. WETHERINGTON, JR., 84, of Valdosta died Sunday, October 16, 2005 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born on September 6, 1921 in Valdosta to the late Moses Clinton, Sr. and Vera Taylor Wetherington and was a lifelong resident of Valdosta. Mr. Wetherington was a member of New Covenant Church where he had served as a deacon, a retired insurance representative and Shaklee Distributor. He served six years in the United States Army having served in World War II, a member of the American Legion and the V. F. W.

Survivors include a stepson and stepdaughter in law, William A. and Judy Touchton of Orlando, Fla., three stepgrandsons and their wives, Ashley and Barbara Touchton of Orlando, Fla., Stuart and Katie Touchton of New Jersey and Kenneth and Robin Touchton of Orlando, Fla., 10-great grandchildren, one sister, Evelyn N. Wilson of Alpharetta, GA., four brothers and sisters in law, Charles and Christine Wetherington, Ronald and Hazel Wetherington, Remer and Maxine Wetherington, Roy and Brenda Wetherington all of Valdosta, sister in law, Barbara Passmore of Valdosta, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Passmore Touchton Wetherington.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, October 19, 2005 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor L. A. Joiner and Pastor Jimmy Smith officiating.
