M. B. (Bill) Woodruff, 83, of Mayday, died on Thursday, February 4, 2009 at South Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Valdosta to the late E. B. & Emma Lorraine Watts Woodruff, he had been a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Woodruff worked for many years as a regional sales manager for several footwear companies. He was also a member of the Elks Club, the American Legion and was a Baptist by faith.
Survivors include his wife Virginia Woodruff of Mayday; a daughter, Julianna Woodruff and Vijay Saigal of Shreveport, LA; four sons and two daughters in law, Randall Woodruff and Bobby Woodruff, both of Valdosta, Jerald & Catherine Strickland of Baxley, and Norman & Carol Strickland of Mayday. He is also survived by six grandchildren and their spouses, Michael & Robyn Woodruff and Dane Woodruff, all of Valdosta, Poppy & Mike Krese of Conshohocken, PA, Becky & Stacy Bourquine of Hahira, Allen & Roni Strickland of Valdosta and Dusty Strickland & Kerri Zipperer of Mayday; and six great grandchildren. Mr. Woodruff is preceded in death by a son, Maurice Woodruff and a brother Robert Woodruff and a daughter in law, Hellen Woodruff.
Funeral services for Mr. Woodruff will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2010 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial of the cremains will occur at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery at a later time. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1 p.m. until service time.
