Lynette Cofer Austin (Nana) went home to be with her Lord on Friday, May 31, 2013, at home in Lake Park. She was immediately reunited with her dear husband, James Austin (Poppie), to whom she was married for 70 years before he went to Glory in November 2009.
Nana was a devoted wife and mother who never was employed outside the home. She was committed to her children, and actively participated in their school activities. She loved to cook and bake and keep house. She was a willing and loving servant in her church, and a great prayer warrior who spent many hours on her knees. She loved ministering to others, especially through food. For many years she was a member of Open Bible Baptist Church and currently a member of Lake Park Christian Church. She loved spending time with her granddaughters and great-granddaughters. They were the joy of her life. Nana was also an avid reader, the Bible being at the top of her list.
Mrs. Austin was born at home to the late John and Rosalee Watson Cofer on October 29, 1918 in Sparta, Hancock County, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Chick, Margaret, Verna, Marian, Johnny Mae, and an infant sister; and two brothers, Wade and Sanford. Nana was the last survivor of this family, and they are all reunited now.
Nana is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Rose Marie and Billy Pounds of College Park; one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Cheryl Austin of Lake Park; three granddaughters and their husbands, Karen "Micky" Pounds of Rome, Marlie and Mike Drummond of Ellijay, and Jessica and Jason Nelson of Warner Robins; two great-granddaughters, Baleigh and Morgan Drummond of Ellijay.
Nana will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who loved her.
