Ludie Exum North, age 92, of Valdosta passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Heritage House Nursing Home. She was born on April 16, 1925 in Brooks County, GA, the oldest child of Jessie Lee Exum and Susie Inez Hall Exum. Ludie was married to John W. North on February 16, 1952 who predeceased her September 2, 1998.
Ludie worked for Oberman Manufacturing which later became Levi's where she was a supervisor for many years, retiring twice. She had a reputation for her dedication to the company and the people who worked for her. Growing up on her daddy's farm, she learned early the meaning and value of hard work which she continued until her recent illness.
She was a devoted member of Wayfare Primitive Baptist Church and shared her talents as a great cook with her church family. Ludie loved working in her flowers, baking and cooking.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Brenda and Colin Deloach of Valdosta, step son and step daughter in law, Bobby D. and Beth North of Rochelle, grandson, Colin Ray Deloach II of Valdosta, granddaughter, Alecia Renee Carmichael (Heath) of Carbon Hill, AL, great granddaughter, Heather Carmichael and great grandson, Cole Carmichael, other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, sister, Beulah Exum Hennly of Valdosta, sister in law, Sue Exum of Quitman and caregiver, Marie Shealy. Mrs. North is preceded in death by her husband, John William North, her parents, parents in law, John and Rena North, two brothers, John J. Exum and Lee Frank Exum.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at two p. m. at Wayfare Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Dwight Marshall officiating. She will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Wayfare Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Tuesday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
