Lucile Harris Steward, 93 of Valdosta, GA passed away on Tuesday July 10, 2018 at the Fellowship Home under the wonderful care of the Fellowship Home Staff and Hospice of South Georgia and family.
She was born on May 26, 1925 in Lowndes County to the late Doc Lundy Harris and Bertie Anderson Harris. She was married to her late husband Mona D. Steward for 43 years until his death in 1991. She was a lifelong resident of Valdosta and resided with her daughter and son in law, Laura and Robert Blanton and family for 28 years. She worked for many years at Dowling Bag Co. She was a Christian and a longtime member of Crossroads Baptist Church. She loved her church and her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and was loved by so many. Mrs. Steward enjoyed cooking and taking care of all her family and friends. She was known as “Granny” to everyone.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband along with her brothers and sisters in law, James and Geneva Harris, Brinson and Maxine Harris, sisters and brother in law, Louise and Wilbur Pulliam, Esther Harris and brothers in law and sisters in law, Shellie and Eva Steward, Morris and Irma Jean Steward, Murray and Amy Steward, Georgia Steward
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Laura and Robert Blanton of Valdosta, grandchildren, Melissa Jackson (Clint Jackson), Bobby Blanton (Kayla Blanton), one great grandson, Nolan Jackson whom she loved very much all of Valdosta, and many nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Fellowship Home and Hospice of South Georgia for their care and love shown to Mrs. Steward during her illness.
Funeral services will be held on Friday July 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Ken Alford officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday July 12, 2018 from 6-8 at Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Valdosta.
