Lt. Col Richard Adelbert Bellinger, Usaf, Ret.

Lt. Col. Richard Adelbert Bellinger, USAF, Ret., 74 of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, June 06, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on April 11, 1932 in Iowa City, he was the son of the late Guy “Jack” and Betty Bellinger. He attended the University of Iowa from which he graduated in 1954. He also attended the law school at Iowa and received a J. D. degree from the Washington College of Law, The American University, Washington, D.C. in 1957. He was a member of the Iowa Bar.

Mr. Bellinger retired in 1977 from the United States Air Force after serving 22 years. He was a member of Waterloo, Iowa Lodge No. 105 A. F. and A. M. as well as the Scottish Rite and the Almas Temple Shrine.

Subsequent to his retirement from the USAF, Mr. Bellinger held positions in the security and investigative field with Burns International, General Electric, Standard Oil and Best and Anderson law firm.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Dill Bellinger of Valdosta; one daughter, Cindy Wilson of Sebastian, FL; one son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Laine Bellinger of Valdosta; four grandchildren, Rob Bellinger, Susan Bellinger and Brad Bellinger all of Valdosta and Erin Azis of Asheville, NC and one great grandson, Logan Azis of Asheville, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2006 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Milton C. West, Pastor of First Christian Church officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
